Toltec Wisdom…The Four Agreements

skyopenroad.jpg

The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel and Don Jose Luis Ruiz offer hope and wisdom as we journey along our spiritual, evolutionary path.  Today, I will take a moment to reflect upon these four beautiful ideas…

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

  1. Thank you Muse. Am finding myself being especially careful these days to speak intentionally and carefully. Too many hurt feelings abound lately! By the way, I admired the way you responded to the last set of comments – classy and respectful. Nothing less than what I’ve come to expect from you.

Aw…Thanks OB! I really mean that. You are a sweetheart and I’ve come to really admire and respect your opinions. Your friendship matters alot to me. Thank you. Oh! And these books are a lovely read to…they give you much to ponder and think about when it comes to relationships. ((((HUGS)))) to you Hun….

  2. A girlfriend and I were just talking about 1 and 2 over lunch. We should always reflect on these. I printed them out and am posting them next to my computer. Thanks!

Oh V. August has been a bit of a trying month hasn’t it (re: comments made by OB and I previously). Apparently, we are nearing the end of the cycle of the year 2007 in August (it sure feels this way to me…). Anyways, yes, these agreements are wonderful. A great addition to the Aspirations that you shared with me the other day. You are a doll. Love and Hugs to you…(((((HUGS)))))

  3. Hi PM,
The link reminds me of research I’ve done on Teotihuacan. I’d love to go there one day. It’s impressive, with the Way of the Dead connecting the Pyramids of Sun and Moon, complete with astronomical alingments, and the Pyramid of Quetzalcoatl.
This character is fascinating – a plumed serpent, but also often depicted as a bearded white man who brought civilisation to the region.
No one knows who originally built it – it was last populated by the Aztecs – but it seems a fascinating place.

Hi Anthony. You know, your awe and fascination for culture and civilisation is absolutely inspiring. As much as it would be interesting to visit these places, one would sure benefit from sitting with you for a few hours to discuss the wonder of such places…You have inspired me to do a little “digging” of my own…I shall investigate the history of Teotihuacan and the Pyramid of Quetzalcoatl. Thank you for your insight. I agree….utterly fascinating….and so wonderful that the genetics of these cultures lives on in our modern society….such that we can tap into the ancient wisdom as spoken through ancestry….

  4. Oh lovely, thanks Gorgeous One. It’s all throat chakra stuff which so many people are dealing with (issues related to) right now, so very timely.
    Love you lots xx

Hi love…Yes. You are absolutely right. The throat chakra is so fascinating. When open, we are capable of accepting things as they are. When overactive, we attempt to control others. When underactive, we see the world as a hostile place (and we have difficulty accepting love). Thanks for that Simonne. I really need to continue my study of the chakras….Love and hugs to you Aussie Goddess! xox

  5. Love and hugs right back at ya! xox
I did a chakra crystal healing on a client at the time of the lunar eclipse last night, it was amazing 🙂

Oh wow Simonne…that gives me chills….Incredible! Brilliant timing Spirit Lady….xoxo

Hi John. Thanks for the link. Readers might also be interested in the link to Theun Mares Website (Warrior’s Keep), for it provides some useful information on this particular path of Toltec study.
